  1. Contributions to hostap.git
  2. ---------------------------
  3. This software is distributed under a permissive open source license to
  4. allow it to be used in any projects, whether open source or proprietary.
  5. Contributions to the project are welcome and it is important to maintain
  6. clear record of contributions and terms under which they are licensed.
  7. To help with this, following procedure is used to allow acceptance and
  8. recording of the terms.
  9. These terms are similar to the process used in Linux kernel development.
  10. The items (a) through (d) are identical to the Developer's Certificate
  11. of Origin 1.1. To enable cleaner licensing option to be provided in the
  12. future, an additional item (e) is included.
  13. In case of most files in hostap.git, "under the open source license
  14. indicated in the file" means that the contribution is licensed both
  15. under GPL v2 and modified BSD license (see below) and the choice between
  16. these licenses is given to anyone who redistributes or uses the
  17. software. As such, the contribution has to be licensed under both
  18. options to allow this choice.
  19. The additional item (e) is used to collect explicit approval to license
  20. the contribution with only the modified BSD license (see below), i.e.,
  21. without the GPL v2 option. This is done to allow simpler licensing terms
  22. to be used in the future. It should be noted that the modified BSD
  23. license is compatible with GNU GPL and as such, this possible move to
  24. simpler licensing option does not prevent use of this software in
  25. GPL projects.
  26. By making a contribution to this project, I certify that:
  27. (a) The contribution was created in whole or in part by me and I
  28. have the right to submit it under the open source license
  29. indicated in the file; or
  30. (b) The contribution is based upon previous work that, to the best
  31. of my knowledge, is covered under an appropriate open source
  32. license and I have the right under that license to submit that
  33. work with modifications, whether created in whole or in part
  34. by me, under the same open source license (unless I am
  35. permitted to submit under a different license), as indicated
  36. in the file; or
  37. (c) The contribution was provided directly to me by some other
  38. person who certified (a), (b) or (c) and I have not modified
  39. it.
  40. (d) I understand and agree that this project and the contribution
  41. are public and that a record of the contribution (including all
  42. personal information I submit with it, including my sign-off) is
  43. maintained indefinitely and may be redistributed consistent with
  44. this project or the open source license(s) involved.
  45. Additionally, I certify that:
  46. (e) The contribution can be licensed under the modified BSD license
  47. as shown below even in case of files that are currently licensed
  48. under other terms.
  49. To indicate your acceptance of these terms, please add the following
  50. line to each contribution you make to the project:
  51. Signed-hostap: Your Name <your@email.example.org>
  52. using your real name. Pseudonyms or anonymous contributions cannot
  53. unfortunately be accepted.
